WAGE OR WIPEOUT

Time to pit your knowledge and strategy against the Wipeout!

The game is played in rounds, beginning with three contestants trying to select correct answers to a particular subject.  The next round has contestants challenge one another to see who can come up with the most correct answers to a subject.  Finally, the Bonus Round for the winning contestant!

Three contestants are given a subject, along with 16 possible answers to choose from on the game board.  11 of the answers are correct, 5 of them are WIPEOUTS!

The first contestant chooses one of the 16 answers they believe matches the subject.

If they choose a correct answer, a DOLLAR SIGN will appear behind the answer and the contestant receives $25.  If they wish, that same player may try to choose another correct answer or pass their turn to the next contestant.

(Each correct answer is worth $25 more than the previous correct answer.  Therefore, correct answers are worth $25, $50, $75, $100, $125, $150, $175, $200, $225, $250, and $275, respectively)

If at any time an incorrect answer is guessed, a WIPEOUT will appear behind the answer and that contestant loses any money they have accumulated up to that point and forfeit their turn.

One correct answer contains the HOT SPOT.  If the contestant that finds the HOT SPOT does not WIPEOUT for the rest of the round and proceeds to the next round, they win a special prize (see SUGGESTIONS).

The FIRST ROUND ends when all 11 correct answers have been found or when all 5 WIPEOUTS have been found, whichever happens first.  The two contestants with the highest totals continue to the CHALLENGE ROUND.  The remaining contestant is eliminated from play.

If there is a tie, a tiebreaker round is played with a new subject.  Contestants go back and forth giving correct answers until someone hits a WIPEOUT or all correct answers are chosen.

The two remaining contestants continue to the CHALLENGE ROUND, in which the contestants challenge one another as to how many correct answers they think they can guess on a given subject.

Each board in the CHALLENGE ROUND has 8 correct answers and 4 WIPEOUTS.  The first contestant gives an opening bid anywhere from 1-8.

In this example, Fernando thinks he can get 3 correct answers without wiping out.  Starr can now choose to outbid Fernando, or challenge Fernando to answer his 3.  Starr decides to bid 4 (but can still go as high as 8).

Fernando now has the same option to either outbid Starr or challenge her.  Fernando bids 5.

Starr decides to challenge Fernando to select 5 correct answers without wiping out.  If Fernando can choose 5 correct answers in a row, he wins the first game of the CHALLENGE ROUND.

If at any time Fernando selects an incorrect answer, Starr has a chance to steal the first game by giving one correct answer on the board.  If she succeeds, Starr wins the game.  If Starr does not select a correct answer, control goes back to Fernando and is given another opportunity to complete his bid.

The first contestant to win two games wins the CHALLENGE ROUND and gets to play the BONUS ROUND!

In the BONUS ROUND, the contestant is given 60 seconds to identify 6 correct answers on a board of 12 total answers to a particular subject.  As soon as the clock begins, the contestant chooses up to 6 answers to highlight on the board.

After the contestant selects 6 answers, they may “check” to see how many answers they have correct.  In this example, 3 of the 6 correct answers have been selected.  They must now change some of their answers to try to reach all 6 by the time the clock runs out.

NOTE: The contestant must deselect an answer before choosing another one in its place (no more than 6 answers can be lit at a time)

After changing answers, the contestant now has 4 correct answers.  They will continue to change answers until they have selected all 6 correct answers or their time is up.
