JOLLY JOKER MACHINE

The game where Knowledge is King and Lady Luck is Queen!  It’s our Joker’s Wild style game that will send you a-reelin’!

Two contestants will play head-to-head, trying to answer questions from an assortment of five categories.  These categories can cover a number of topics. There may also be special categories, such as FAST FORWARD (answer as many questions as you wish), BID (bid on the number of questions you will answer correct), MYSTERY (category is unknown, but is worth double), HOW LOW WILL YOU GO? (bid against your opponent to see how few clues you need to answer a question), and a number of visual categories.

The object of the game is to be the first player to reach $500.  The first player will spin the reels that are shown on the display.  The reels contain categories and JOKERS.  When the reels are done spinning, the three windows will display what categories the contestant may choose.

  • If all three windows have a different category, the contest may choose any of those categories and answer a question worth $50.
  • If two like categories appear in the windows, the contestant may answer a question in that category worth $100, or choose the remaining category worth $50.
  • If all three windows reveal the same category, the question in that category is worth $200.

If a JOKER appears, it is WILD, and can be made any of the five categories the contestant wishes.  JOKERS may be matched up with the categories appearing in the reels to increase the value of the question, or the contestant may go “off the board” and pick any category of their choosing for the corresponding question value.

If a contestant answers their question correctly, they will bank the amount of money the question is worth, and play switches to their opponent.  Whenever a contestant answers a question incorrectly, their opponent has a chance to steal the question and earn the money for the question (except in a 3-JOKER scenario).  There is no penalty for an incorrect answer.   If the contestant who started the game (Player 1) reaches $500 first, Player 2 has a chance to tie or surpass them with one spin of the reels.

3-JOKER WIN

If a contestant spins three JOKERS, they get to choose any of the five categories they wish.  If they answer the question correctly, they will automatically WIN (whether they are Player 1 or 2).  The winner of the main game gets to play the bonus game and FACE THE DEVIL!

The contestant spins the reels, but instead of categories and JOKERS, they are replaced with dollar amounts ($25, $50, $75, $100, $150, $200) and DEVILS.  The object is for the contestant to accumulate $1,000 without coming across the DEVIL.

Whatever money appears on the reels is added to a pot.  If the contestant ever fears the DEVIL, they may stop at any time before reaching $1,000 and bank whatever money they have accumulated.  If the DEVIL appears, the contestant loses all accumulated money and the bonus game is over.  On the TV gameshow, a contestant who successfully accumulated $1,000 also won a prize package.

NATURAL TRIPLE WIN

Like in the regular game, if a contestant comes across a natural triple (the same money amount appears in all three reels), the contestant automatically wins the bonus game (the $1,000 and the prize package).

*FOR ALL SHOWS: The main purpose for these shows is entertainment and fun, first and foremost.  While many of these games display large amounts of money and/or lavish prizes, we do NOT provide any such prizes for the games.  All parties are welcome to provide their own prizes/gifts that may be implemented in gameplay.  Below are simply some suggestions we have come up with in order to make the gameplay more interesting and/or competitive.

*ADD A SWAG BAG!: Want to play for real prizes?  Add a swag bag of awesome Eek! products to any gameshow package and award gifts as individual prizes or play for an ultimate prize package!

Determining Players 1 and 2 may be done via coin flip, drawing, etc.

Since “The Jolly Joker Machine” uses an accumulated cash system, it may be fun to keep score to see how much each contestant wins altogether (main game and bonus game money), and the contestant who wins the most is the big winner!

If you would like to provide your own prizes, you can include them as part of the prize package if someone reaches $1,000 in the bonus game, or you could use the “money” won as a currency to buy prizes.  For example, if a contestant wins a total of $1,500, they could trade that money in for a prize (say a $5 Starbucks gift card is worth $500, a $10 Amazon card is worth $1,000, a paid day off work is worth $1,500, etc.).  Again, you would need to provide these prizes, but we are happy to keep score for you.

For larger groups, you may use teams instead of individuals for each game.

Since a “Jolly Joker Machine” package comes with three full games and bonus rounds, you may have the winners of the first two games compete in the final game, or use a “returning champion” feature, where whomever wins each game continues to the next.
