Contestants are after Big Bucks, but they’ll have to avoid the Whammy as they play the most-exciting game of their lives!
GAMEPLAY
Three contestants attempt to earn spins on the Big Board and try to have the highest total after two rounds of play, all while trying to avoid the Whammy!
QUESTION ROUND
Contestants earn spins on the Big Board by answering questions in two different rounds. Each round has four questions.
Here is a sample question: “On what denomination of U.S. coin will you find the face of Thomas Jefferson?”
The first contestant that buzzes in is allowed to submit a guess. Let’s say the Middle Contestant buzzes in first and gives a guess of “nickel”.
The two remaining contestants are then given three possible answers, including the Middle Contestant’s guess.
The other two contestants then give their guesses from the three choices. The Left Contestant also guesses “nickel” and the Right Contestant guesses “dime”.
The correct answer is a “nickel.” Because the Middle Contestant was able to buzz in and given the correct answer without any choices, they are awarded 3 spins on the Big Board. The Left Contestant is awarded 1 spin for answering correctly from multiple choice. The Right Contestant is not awarded any spins.
- If no one buzzes in with an answer after the question is read, all contestants are given three choices and each contestant that gives the correct answer receives 1 spin.
- Contestants will always answer in order, from left to right.
After four questions are read, the first Question Round ends and contestants take their earned spins to the Big Board!
BIG BOARD
The Big Board is where contestants can win “cash and prizes” and begin to accumulate their score.
The spaces on the board will cycle through cash amounts, prizes, Whammies, and other special spaces (see below). A light will flash randomly around the board, marking one space at a time.
The contestant who has the least number of spins will be in control first (if there is a tie, the leftmost contestant will begin). The contestant who is in control of the board will hit their buzzer to stop the flashing light on one of the squares.
If they stop on a money amount, that amount is added to their score. If they stop on a prize, the amount that the prize is worth is added to their score.
If a contestant lands on a WHAMMY, the Whammy takes all of their accumulated money away and their score is reset to $0.
If a contestant lands on 4 Whammies throughout the game, that contestant is eliminated from the game entirely.
SPECIAL SQUARES
Some squares on the Big Board have special instructions or stipulations that are more than simply a money amount, prize, or Whammy. These squares include:
- CASH + ONE SPIN – the contestant earns money as well as another spin
- MOVE/ADVANCE/GO BACK SPACES – the contestant moves a certain number of spaces to another square and is awarded accordingly. In some cases, the contestant may choose which direction to move
- ADD-A-ONE – a 1 is added to the beginning of the contestant’s score (i.e. a total of $600 becomes $1,600) [This square is only found in the 1st Big Board round]
- PICK-A-CORNER – the contestant chooses which corner square they would like to move to and be awarded accordingly
- $2000 or LOSE 1 WHAMMY – the contestant has the choice of adding $2000 to their score or taking away one of their Whammies
- BIG BUCKS – the light immediately moves to the highest money amount displayed on the board
PASSING SPINS
If a contestant ever fears landing on a Whammy, they may PASS their remaining spins to another contestant. Of the other two contestants, the one with the higher score receives the spins. If they are tied, the passing contestant chooses who the spins will go to.
A contestant who receives passed spins MUST use those spins first. A contestant is not allowed to pass spins that appear in their PASSED column.
If a contestant lands on a Whammy from a passed spin, the remaining spins in the PASSED column are then moved to the EARNED column.
After all spins have been used, Round 1 of the Big Board ends and the 2nd Question Round begins. The same rules apply to the 2nd Question Round as the first.
When the 2nd Question Round ends, contestants go back to the Big Board.
The Round 2 Big Board has larger money amounts and prizes, plus an increase in possible additional spins.
The contestants will play in order based on their totals after the Round 1 Big Board (despite how many spins they earn in Round 2). Once again, in the case of a tie, the leftmost player will start.
All same rules apply to the Round 2 Big Board.
After all spins have been used, the contestant who has the highest score, or the last contestant to hit four Whammies, wins the game!
