SALE OF THE 21st CENTURY

Players could win big and continue a journey towards a fortune!

Three contestants compete against each other in a game of rapid-fire questions, quick decision-making, and trying to find the best deal in town!

(NOTE: While Eek! I’m On a Gameshow does NOT provide cash or prizes for any gameshow, we strongly recommend you include your own prizes or cash to play for in this game, as gameplay is designed for such.  This gameshow can also be played for fun, without prizes.  EXPLAINED BELOW.)

Each contestant begins the game with $20.

Contestants are then asked a series of buzz-in questions.  Questions involve general trivia, pop culture, and finishing famous quotes or proverbs.  The questions are generally read in a way that the more information revealed, the easier it is to come up with the answer.  For example, a question may read, “First celebrated in 1907, Anna Jarvis is credited with founding what holiday, which is celebrated on the second Sunday in May, honoring the matriarch of the family?”

At any point during the question, a contestant may buzz in and try to answer.  If they are correct, $5 is added to their score. If they are incorrect, $5 is subtracted from their score.

After a contestant buzzes is, whether they are right or wrong, a new question is asked (the other two contestants cannot try to answer a missed question).

In between question rounds there will be INSTANT BARGAINS and FAME GAMES (This is where providing your own prizes comes into play).

After the first set of questions, there will be an INSTANT BARGAIN.  Only the player in the lead at that point can participate in the INSTANT BARGAIN (if there is a tie for the lead, all players tied for the lead participate).

In our example, Joy has the lead.  In the INSTANT BARGAIN, Joy will be offered a prize which she can purchase for a certain amount of her score.  Let’s say, for your party, you are offering a $20 gift card for Amazon.  But instead of buying it for $20, Joy can buy it at the sale price of $6 (the host will provide the offer).

If Joy wishes, she can “buy” the gift card at the sale price by buzzing it.  In doing so, she receives the prize and her score is reduced to $29 (In the event of a tie, only the first contestant to buzz in receives the prize).

NOTE: If Joy doesn’t wish to buy the prize after the first offer, the host may reduce the price even further or offer other incentives.  The host will call “Going once … going twice …” before shutting down the deal.

After the first INSTANT BARGAIN is complete, another set of questions is asked and gameplay continues as above.

There are two INSTANT BARGAINS per show, as well as an INSTANT CASH game.  INSTANT CASH works the same as the INSTANT BARGAIN, however in INSTANT CASH, the contestant(s) participating chooses from one of three boxes.

On the TV gameshow, two boxes contain $100 and one contains a running jackpot prize.  For your particular party, this can be a time to have one of the boxes contain a bigger prize or prize money, while the other two may contain smaller prizes or nothing at all.

If the contestant wishes to play INSTANT CASH, it will cost them the value of their lead (their score will be reduced to the next highest score).

After the next set of questions, the first FAME GAME is played.  The contestants will hear the description of a person, place, or thing.  Like the question rounds, any contestant can buzz in as soon as they think they know the answer.  However, if they are incorrect, the other two contestants can still buzz in as they hear more of the description.  The contestant who answers correctly takes control of the FAME GAME BOARD.

Hear is an example of a full description in the FAME GAME:  “I am a person.  I was born in San Francisco in 1930.  After some rocky years in high school, I held a number of jobs, such as a grocery clerk, golf caddy, and lifeguard. Through various contacts, I was able to receive my first acting auditions in 1954, but my stiff manner and delivery of lines was heavily criticzed. Despite this, I was given a breakout role on TV in 1958.  I received my first major film role in 1964, for a character I would reprise two more times in the 1960’s.  I took a stab at directing in 1971, the same year I first played the character Harry Callahan.  I would eventually win two Best Director Oscars for the films ‘Unforgiven’ and ‘Million Dollar Baby.’  I am the Man with No Name, I am Dirty Harry.  Who am I?”

The FAME GAME BOARD has 9 spaces.  Behind one of the numbers, a $10 MONEY CARD is revealed.

A light randomzier will then begin flashing around each number.  The contestant who won the FAME GAME stops the randomizer by hitting their buzzer.  If the randomzier lands on the MONEY CARD, that contestant adds $10 to their score.

If it lands on any other number, it will be up to your party as to what happens.  Each number could represent a small prize, a money amount, or nothing at all.  Again, see SUGGESTIONS below.

There are three FAME GAMES per show.  They all follow the same format. Additional MONEY CARDS of $15 and $25 are placed on the board after the second and third FAME GAMES respectively.

After the third FAME GAME is completed, the contestants begin the SPEED ROUND!

For 60 seconds, rapid-fire questions will be read to the contestants.  Just as in the QUESTIONS ROUNDS, if a contestant buzzes in and answers correctly, they receive $5 towards their score, but if they are incorrect, they lose $5 and the next question is asked.

After the 60 seconds have expired, the player with the highest score wins the game and gets to play the BONUS ROUND!

In the BONUS ROUND, contestants attempt to answer four word puzzles correctly in 20 seconds.  Contestants choose from one of three envelopes: RED, YELLOW, or BLUE, each containing five different puzzles.

Clues to a particular person, place, or thing are read one word at a time.  The timer begins counting down as the first clue is read.  As in the regular game, the contestant may buzz in at any time they think they know the answer.

The clock will stop as soon as the contestant buzzes in.  If they are correct, any remaining clues are revealed, as well as the correct answer.  The contestant receives a CHECK MARK for their right answer.

*A contestant is allowed only ONE mistake in the BONUS ROUND. If they cannot answer a puzzle or guess incorrectly, the next puzzle is read and whatever time that counted off is lost.  If that happens a second time, the BONUS ROUND ends.

If the contestant can answer four puzzles correctly in 20 seconds, they win the BONUS ROUND!

*FOR ALL SHOWS: The main purpose for these shows is entertainment and fun, first and foremost.  While many of these games display large amounts of money and/or lavish prizes, we do NOT provide any such prizes for the games.  All parties are welcome to provide their own prizes/gifts that may be implemented in gameplay.  Below are simply some suggestions we have come up with in order to make the gameplay more interesting and/or competitive.

*ADD A SWAG BAG!: Want to play for real prizes?  Add a swag bag of awesome Eek! products to any gameshow package and award gifts as individual prizes or play for an ultimate prize package!

For larger-sized groups, you may play in teams instead of individuals.

FOR SHOWS WITHOUT PIRZES – If you do not wish to provide your own prizes and want to play for fun, a good idea would be to play for a highest amount of “money” won.  During INSTANT BARGAINS, the prizes can be replaced with a “cash bonus” that can be bought.  Likewise, the FAME GAME board can conceal “cash” amounts that can be added to your score.  The winner of the BONUS ROUND can win a “cash jackpot”.  Any ideas are welcome for your particular party.

FOR SHOWS WITH PRIZES – You may disperse your prizes throughout the game as you wish.  They can be used for the INSTANT BARGAINS, FAME GAMES, and the BONUS ROUND.  For the FAME GAME BOARD, if you have enough individual prizes, they can be given a number designation, and wherever the contestant lands, that is the number prize they win.  You may also implement the “money” concept described in the shows without prizes, where the “money” won can be used as currency to “purchase” prizes.
